Continental Express Flight 2574 (Jetlink 2574) was a scheduled domestic passenger airline flight operated by Britt Airways from Laredo International Airport in Laredo, Texas to Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas. On September 11, 1991, the Embraer EMB 120 Brasilia, registered N33701, crashed as it was approaching the runway for landing, killing all 14 people on board. The aircraft wreckage hit an area near Eagle Lake, Texas. The media stated that initially people speculated that a bomb had destroyed the aircraft; the National Transportation Safety Board discovered that missing screws on the horizontal stabilizer led to the crash. @weirdosack yeah, it looked like it wasn’t falling, it was actually flying straight down at full speed, that’s a lot of G-Force
10 years before 9/11 dafuk?
@bennett1562
not necessarily the aeroplane that’s dangerous: this was a maintenance fuck-up, not a structural fault in the aeroplane itself!
It sucks, that Nat Geo US doesn’t have this show -_-
johnny nance is right; a single missing screw can jeopardize the flight
34:10 BINGO!
So what happened to the bag of screws the mechanic left on the lift??? Didn’t anyone wonder where they’d come from?
@weirdosack Have you heard of Air Emergency on Nat Geo?
I live in Chicago, Illinois in the United States of America.
@bennett1562 Yeap
@classysassy3 Where do you live?
When, what time and what channel network name does this show come on?
@RollieAguilera So Wierd! And now that cruise ship off of Tuscany, Italy crashed almost 100 years after the Titanic hit the Iceberg!
So they fixed the right side but didn’t see the screws on the left missing? It doesn’t look like its very far away! I think everyone there during maintenance was responsible to a point
I don’t buy the Inspector “helping out”. There was no pressure for him to “help” the mechanics, the midnight shift supervisor was easily able to postpone the boot replacement on the left side. Manslaughter charges should have been brought up on the Inspector. Negligence charges for the 2nd shift supervisor. And higher ups in the company should have been brought up on charges as well.
Anderson and the maintenance crew should be in jail for murder and manslaughter. I can’t find any info on what happened to them. Does anyone know ?
Thanks for the upload!
Wow i find Embraer EMB 120 Brasilia’s dangerous. 1st ASA 529, now this!!! its crazy
@SaricIsmet thanks!
@FLT111 Answer to your question is at 41:16.
I LOOOOVE YOUUU!!!! xD… I have been waiting since september last year for this…. THANKYOUUU!!!….
Because of this TV show I am studying to become an aircraft mechanic…..
One of the first things they tell us is ONE PART IN…ONE PART OUT! NO EXTRA PARTS, NO MISSING PARTS!!!!!!!
If you get done with you aircraft and find you have a few extra “bolts or nuts” (example) you find where those went…OR ELSE!
OMG!!! I’ve been waiting forever for this episode to be uploaded…….PROPS TO YOU!!!!!!!
9/11 prior to 9/11
